Highlands County Education Association (HCEA) is the association that represents the 800+ people who fall under the “teacher” umbrella (teachers, guidance counselors, ESE support faciliators, content specialists, and more). We are growing our membership and community outreach, one person at a time. We are the largest association in the Peace River Basin Service Unit.

Jean retired from teaching at APMS after 26 years but remains the President. She also retired from the US Air Force.

Kris is at APMS as Guidance resource teacher. Kris also is a member on the Insurance Committee and bargaining team for HCEA.
Kimberly Henry - Treasurer
Treasurer Kimberly Henry is a teacher at Avon Elementary. She is the keeper of the books and purse. She focuses on fiscal responsibility, and creating data used by HCEA in membership drives, PD offerings, etc.
Shonda Zimmerman-Secretary
Shonda is a teacher at Sun n Lake ES, teaching for over 10 years. She has been an active HCEA member for all but 1 year. She has served in many capacities for HCEA. She welcomes any questions you have.
